Day 12

I had a bit of a self discovery the other day. I am like my dogs, or my dogs are like me...either way, we are similar. The dogs like to please me. Whether that means sitting when I ask, or not pulling on the leash, or whatever, the dogs like to please people. I like to please people. I work extra hard at work because I want my boss to be impressed with me; I listened (for the most part) to my parents instructions because I want(ed) them to be proud of me; I try to be supportive in the activities Ian wants to do because I want him to love me.

When my dogs do something bad, they sulk, put their tails between their legs, and give the puppy eyes. If I make a mistake that may cause someone else to be displeased, I feel disappointed with myself, like I have failed. Sometimes, I even throw a pity party.

When the dogs aren't getting attention, they jump up and make noise, anything to get you to give them attention. If I think someone is being more pleasing/successful/impressive than I am, I try to come up with some brilliant idea that makes me the center of attention.

Therefore, I am like dogs.
