Today's topic: Tulips! Just stop and smell the tulips already! There has and always will be a special place in my heart for tulips. They come in so many varieties, colors, heights, etc. that it is insane. On my walk home (duration=20 minutes), I took 50 pictures of just tulips!
I think my love for tulips began as a child. My mom has a sort of a reputation for killing flowers (no offense mom), but I distinctly remember there being a certain batch of red tulips with yellow and black insides that would grow every spring by the front stairs to our house. I would get so excited when I would see the tulips start to pop up in the front yard, they were so beautiful. My mother would water those tulips, provide good top soil for them, and even talk to them sometimes (at least that's what it looked like from the dining room window). Since tulips were the only flower she could keep alive, I thought she was sort of a kindred spirit with them. It was enchanting how every year those tulips would grow and grow just for her. I have since learned that to kill a tulip is next to impossible, but I will never forget the pride my mom took in those tulips, and the joy it gave me to watch her succeed. Every time I see red tulips, I think of my mother.
