Day 5

Now that I work in the Fine Arts building on campus, I've been thinking a lot about the question "What is art?" So today's topic is about art I don't understand. I could probably do a whole month's worth of pictures on this topic, but for now I will just stick with today's photos. Since I've worked at the H-FAC (stands for Harris Fine Arts Center), the craziest "art" exhibit I've seen was one with a long, white, ramp and at the top of it was a dead turkey. Everyday I had to pass that dead turkey for three weeks. It wasn't even taxidermied, it was just laying there, a big, dead turkey lump. Weird...

Anyways, so here's the first picture I took of "art".

This morning on my way to work I saw this. Now I don't know what you think it looks like, but to me it looks like a giant mustache.
Now, look at what I saw when I was walking home from work...

It's a flaming mustache!!! I just don't get it.

Here are some more masterpieces I saw.

This one is called "Resurrection"; it looks like a mummy. I hope the second coming is slightly less creepy.

I don't know what to say about this.

This one was called "Maxine". I don't know who Maxine is, but if I were her I would be really ticked off that someone sculpted me like a big block.

Again, I am speechless.

Now this is a piece of art I was really drawn to. It's entitled "Steal Life of Forbidden Fruit", pretty clever huh? I think I mostly like it because the strong symmetrical/geometrical shape of the whole piece is so precise. If anyone has any interpretations you can provide, I am open to suggestions, but for now I will just chalk it up to "art".
